Darlings, Flora/Fauna is holding a fundraiser for the Environmental Defense Fund in Central Park this Friday. Some of us will be working on a beautification squad, but there will be a dance pavillion, and plenty of food for purchase.

Well goodness, darlings. Look at this little black book! You'd hardly begin to think such an old bag could do so well for herself, but there you have it.

Much as I think it's adorable admirable that our two young officials are expanding the authoritarian brood, it seems as though the process is rather too...'in house' at present to have much point. Now, I don't want to seem the dissenter, but it's hardly productive to have those already in power handpick a council of their 'peers,' wouldn't you say? I'm not saying democracy is a perfect process, dears, just that there must be a better way to go about such an important decision.

In much better news, I've been honored with the offer of dedicating a new wildlife preserve upstate, near Ossining. Perhaps it's a bit odd, dedicating it in the middle of winter, but it's also a lovely reminder that each of Nature's phases are as essential as the next.

The materialism of this country is lamentable, particularly on days like yesterday--in which the (perhaps not better, but certainly saner) rest of us stayed home. My thoughts are with the young man from Queens. I wish I could say the rest of the world is above this.

Well, despite the fact that half the recent entries on this network are almost incomprehensible (I understand, dearies; booze and roaches will do that to people), I've believe I've pieced together what happened at that little gathering I had to miss. Call it a clash of professional engagements.

My goodness. It's like we're in a bad movie. I do hope everyone's voted that can. Leadership within our little community is only as viable as the world in which it exists!
